What if going bald could be as simple as taking a selfie?
That’s the idea behind Shave for Hope (剃亮希望) — a charity campaign by the Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF) Hong Kong that uses AI to let anyone show solidarity with children fighting cancer. No razor required. Just a photo, a few seconds, and a moment worth sharing.
Master Concept had the opportunity to build the platform for CCF, and we’re proud to have played a small part in bringing it to life.

The Challenge: Making It Easy to Care
Most people want to support a cause like childhood cancer. The gap is usually between intention and action.
Shaving your head is a powerful gesture, but it’s also a big ask. Traditional awareness campaigns reach those already committed. CCF wanted something that could reach everyone else too: the people who care deeply but need a lower barrier to show it.
The answer was a platform built around one principle: remove every excuse not to participate.

How Shave for Hope Works
1. AI Head Transformation: Upload a photo or take a selfie. Powered by Nano Banana (Gemini Flash Image), the AI generates a realistic, high-quality bald version of you in seconds. Download it and share it on social media to show your support. No actual shaving needed.
2. Donate to Unlock Your Moment: Donate to CCF through the platform and unlock a personalised transformation video generated by Veo 3, Google’s video generation model. It’s a shareable keepsake that marks your contribution with something more than a receipt.
3. Start Fundraising: Set your own target, share your personal fundraising page, and invite friends and colleagues to donate. A live leaderboard tracks progress and keeps momentum going.

A Campaign That Travelled
What made Shave for Hope work beyond the platform was how naturally it spread. The AI-generated bald photos became a social currency of their own, with people posting, tagging friends, and daring colleagues to do the same. The combination of a personal, visual output and a genuine cause gave the campaign legs that paid media alone rarely achieves. It became the kind of thing people shared not because they were asked to, but because it was genuinely worth sharing.

What the Platform Is Built to Do
Every feature was designed with a single outcome in mind: making participation feel natural, not obligatory.
- Fast entry: Anyone with a phone can join in under 60 seconds
- Shareable by design: The AI photo and Veo-generated transformation video are built to travel on Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp
- Personal accountability: Fundraising pages and a public leaderboard give participants a reason to keep going
- Bilingual experience: The platform serves both English and Traditional Chinese audiences seamlessly
