【Google Workspace FAQ】How To Turn On The Google Workspace Extension For Gemini

Google has introduced Gemini (gemini.google.com) extensions for Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Docs, now available in open beta. 

This integration streamlines your workflow by allowing seamless access to your emails, documents, and files directly within the Gemini platform. No more uploading documents one by one – you can now retrieve docs, emails, and anything on Drive with ease. This enhancement saves time and boosts work efficiency, enabling you to focus on what matters most. Experience the benefits of a unified workflow and enable the extensions with these steps:

Turn Workspace Extensions In Gemini On Or Off

1. 1. Before you set the extension, make sure you’re signed in to an administrator account, or ask your administrator for help. 

1. 2. In the Admin console, go to Menu > Apps > Google Workspace > Gemini.

1. 3. Scroll to “Extensions”  and select “Allow users access to Workspace extensions in Gemini.

1. 4. Click “Connect”. Try it NOW!

Optional: To turn Workspace Extensions on or off for an organizational unit:

• • On the left, select the organizational unit.

• • Choose one:
    • • If the setting status is set to Inherited and you want to keep the updated setting, even if the parent setting changes, click Override.
    • • If the setting status is set to Overridden, either click Inherit to revert to the same setting as its parent, or click Save to keep the new setting, even if the parent setting changes. (Learn more about organizational structure. )

1. Type “@”, in the text bar, and the drop-down will automatically appear for the user to select.

1. 2. For Example,  type “@Gmail” and type the keywords of the email conversation you are searching for, you can also prompt Gemini to help replying the email, do all the steps in one sentence!

Important: To turn on Workspace extensions, Docs, Drive, and Gmail must all be turned on. If one or more of these services are turned off, the Workspace extensions setting isn’t available in your Google Admin console.
